खड़गपुर ग्रामीण के कलाईकुंडा रेल गेट के करीब रेल अंडरपास का उद्घाटन हुआ . इस अंडरपास का उद्घाटन पश्चिम मेदिनीपुर के सांसद दिलीप घोष के कर कमलों से हुआ . इस समारोह में सांसद के साथ खड़गपुर डिवीज़न के डीआरएम मनोरंजन प्रधान , वायुसेना के एरिया कमांडिंग ऑफिसर राना सिंह व अन्य गणमान्य लोग मौजूद थे . यह सडक अंडरपास दरअसल एक दीर्घ प्रतीक्षित आवश्यकता थी क्योंकि इस क्षेत्र में वायु सेना के डिफेंस क्षेत्र के साथ ही एक विशाल आबादी व 2 उच्चतर माध्यमिक स्कूल होने के वजह से लंबे समय से अनगिनत लोग अवांछित बाधा से दो-चार थे .अब इस समाधान से हजारों लोगों को बहुत बडी राहत मिली है . पहले ट्रेन की आवाजाही के दौरान रेल गेट बंद रहने की परिस्थिति में आपात सेवाएं , स्कूल विद्यार्थियों एवं सर्वोच्च रुप से वायु सेना को अनेको कठिनाइयों और बाधाओं का सामना करना पडता था . जाम लग जाया करती थी. यह परियोजना 2 वर्षों में , तकरीबन 19 करोड की लागत से पूरी हुई है . समस्या से मुक्ति मिलने और सुगमता मुहैया होने के कारण इलाका वासी काफी खुश हैं।
Kalaikunda station is a NSG-6 category station, famous for Air force base station and situated adjacent to Kharagpur. The Rail distance between Kharagpur station and Kalaikunda station is 8 Km and the distance via road is approximately 6 km. Kalaikunda station dealt an daily average outward passenger of 85 nos. and daily average passenger earnings to tune of Rs. 1863/-. The station dealt (both inward & outward) approximately 155 nos. of passenger on daily basis. Presently, Kalaikunda station dealt one pair of Express train (18033/34 HWH-GTS-HWH MEMU Exp) and 06 pairs of passenger trains. The additional 02(two) pairs of local trains are going to be resumed in phased manner by considering the availability of MEMU stock at the division.
Sri Dilip Ghosh, Hon’ble MP, Medinipur has dedicated the Road under Bridge (RUB) at LC no.60 at Kalaikunda station for the benefit of Rail users at 10:00 hrs of 17.08.2022. The construction works has been completed with a cost of Rs. 18.52 Crores. It will enhance the station infrastructure and smooth movement of the general public. The construction of Road under Bridge (RUB) at LC no.60 shall facilitate the smooth movement of the public of nearby areas adjacent to Kalaikunda station without crossing railway tracks/land. Sri M. Pradhan, Divisional Railway Manager/Kharagpur, Sri Rajesh Kumar, Sr. Divisional Commercial Manager, Kharagpur and other branch officers and railway officials were also present during the occasion.
