RPF Rescues Two Lost Children at Medinipur and Kharagpur Railway Stations under ‘Operation Nanhe Farishtey’

In two separate incidents on 02nd September 2025, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) demonstrated its commitment to child safety by rescuing two minors found wandering alone at Medinipur and Kharagpur railway stations. Both children were safely handed over to Childline after due formalities.

Incident 1 – Medinipur Station

At about 05:25 hrs, during a routine round on Platform No. 1 near the old Foot Over Bridge at Medinipur station, RPF personnel noticed a 7-year-old boy moving aimlessly in a distressed state. The child was immediately brought to RPF Post/Medinipur for safety. On inquiry, he disclosed his name as Bablu, aged about 7 years, and a resident of Garbeta, Paschim Medinipur, West Bengal.

Following standard procedure, Childline authorities at Kharagpur were informed. The child was provided with food and counselled. Later, the Child Help Desk Supervisor from Kharagpur arrived and, after completing all legal formalities, took the child into safe custody for further care.

Incident 2 – Kharagpur Station

On the same day at about 15:25 hrs, during routine checks at Platform No. 1 of Kharagpur station, RPF personnel noticed a minor girl roaming aimlessly. The girl could not provide any details about herself when questioned. She was taken to RPF Post/Kharagpur, given food and water, and the matter was promptly reported to Childline/Kharagpur.

A Childline team attended the post, and after due legal procedures and documentation, the child was handed over to Childline Supervisor for safe custody and further necessary action.

Both rescues were carried out under the ‘Operation Nanhe Farishtey’ initiative of Indian Railways, which focuses on protecting and rehabilitating vulnerable children found in railway premises.
