ट्रेनों में यात्रियों के कीमती सामानों की लगातार हो रही चोरी और छिनतई की घटनाओं पर आरपीएफ व जीआरपी की संयुक्त टीम ने जाल बिछाकर ट्रेनों में सक्रिय एक अंतरराज्यीय चोर गिरोह के तीन सदस्यों को रंगे हाथ गिरफ्तार कर लिया।
लैपटॉप चोरी की शिकायत पर शुरू हुई जांच
हाल ही में क्रिया योगा एक्सप्रेस में यात्रा कर रहे यात्री शारद आचार्य का लैपटॉप और अन्य कीमती सामान चोरी हो गया था। इस संबंध में शिकायत दर्ज होने के बाद जीआरपी ने मामले को गंभीरता से लेते हुए विशेष जांच शुरू की। सुराग और निगरानी के आधार पर जीआरपी की पीसी टीम ने घेराबंदी कर तीनों आरोपियों को धर दबोचा।
ओडिशा के रहने वाले हैं आरोपी
पकड़े गए तीनों आरोपी ओडिशा के सुंदरगढ़ जिले (राउरकेला क्षेत्र) के निवासी हैं:

पूछताछ में कई वारदातों का खुलासा
पुलिस पूछताछ के दौरान आरोपियों ने ट्रेनों में चोरी की कई वारदातों में शामिल होने की बात स्वीकार की है। जांच में सामने आया है कि यह गिरोह केवल खड़गपुर ही नहीं, बल्कि राउरकेला और संबलपुर समेत विभिन्न रेल मार्गों पर सक्रिय था। यह गिरोह मुख्य रूप से यात्रियों के लैपटॉप, मोबाइल, सोने-चांदी के गहने और कीमती सामान निशाना बनाता था।
पकड़े गए आरोपियों पर पूर्व में भी रेलवे पुलिस और जीआरपी थानों में चोरी के मामले दर्ज हैं। पुलिस अब यह पता लगाने में जुटी है कि इस गिरोह में और कितने सदस्य शामिल हैं तथा इन्होंने हाल के दिनों में किन-किन अन्य वारदातों को अंजाम दिया है। लगातार हो रही चोरी की घटनाओं के बीच इस गिरोह का पकड़ा जाना रेल पुलिस के लिए एक बड़ी सफलता माना जा रहा है।
A laptop bag from Train No. 18616 (Kriya Yoga Express), CCTV footage of Kharagpur Railway Station was examined. During examination of the footage, three suspected persons were observed deboarding at Kharagpur Railway Station.
Subsequently, officers and staff of RPF Post/Kharagpur, along with GRPS/Kharagpur, conducted a joint drive at Kharagpur Railway Station to trace the suspected persons. At about 18:00 hrs, three persons were noticed moving suspiciously on Platform No. 02 near the Amul Stall.
On being checked, they were found in possession of one stolen laptop bag containing one HP laptop, one digital watch, documents and one cutter machine, having a total approximate value of Rs. 1,50,000/-.
During enquiry, the persons were identified as:
1. Md. Majid Chand (41) @ Kana Chand
2. Md. Giashuddin (47) and
3. Parvez Akhtar (45)
All are residents of Rourkela, District Sundargarh, Odisha.
During interrogation, they confessed to having committed theft in Train No. 18016, Coach No. A-2. The apprehended persons along with the recovered stolen property were subsequently brought to GRPS/Kharagpur for further legal action.
In this connection, GRPS/Kharagpur registered a case no- 134/26 dated 02.09.2026 under Section 305(c) of BNS.
During further interrogation, the apprehended persons disclosed that they used to travel on reserved tickets in AC coaches, target passengers’ belongings whenever an opportunity arose, and thereafter deboard at different railway stations.
It was further revealed that Md. Chand @ Kala Chand is the alleged leader of the gang. He had previously been arrested in Several cases.
