PRIME MINISTER TO LAY FOUNDATION STONE/ INAUGURATE 46 AMRIT STATIONS AND 108 ROAD OVERBRIDGES AND UNDERPASSES

OVER SER JURISDICTION

Indian Railways is moving ahead at a rapid pace in the direction of modernisation towards realising Prime Minister’s vision of a new India. As a part of it, more than 1300 railway stations across the country are being redeveloped with state-of-the-art facilities under Amrit Station Scheme. The redeveloped Amrit stations will provide top-notch passenger amenities and world class travel experience.

Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister will lay foundation stone of 46 stations of South Eastern Railway on 26th February, 2024 under Amrit Station Scheme through Video Conferencing. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate / Lay Foundation stone for 108 Road  Overbridges and Underpasses over SER jurisdiction.

Foundation Stone will be laid for 22 Amrit stations of West Bengal at a total estimated cost of Rs. 597.15 Crores. The 22 stations of West Bengal to be redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme are, Adra, Bankura, Bishnupur, Purulia, Joychandi Pahar, Burnpur, Kharagpur, Mecheda, Tamluk, Jhargram, Bagnan, Midnapore, Uluberia, Andul, Panskura, Hijli, Belda, Digha, Haldia, Suisa, Tulin and Jhalida. Moreover, the total estimated cost for 41 Road Overbridges/Underpasses in West Bengal is Rs. 492.05 Crores.

Foundation Stone will be laid for 18 Amrit stations of Jharkhand at a total estimated cost of Rs. 578.95 Crores. The 18 stations of Jharkhand to be redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme are, Tatanagar, Chakradharpur, Gamharia, Sini, Chaibasa, Dangoaposi, Barajamda, Balsiring, Bano, Gangaghat, Ramgarh Cantt, Govindpur Road, Orga, Muri, Silli, Lohardaga, Tatisilwai. and Namkom. Moreover, the total estimated cost for 44 Road Overbridges/Underpasses in Jharkhand  is Rs.546.01 Crores.

Foundation Stone will be laid for 6 Amrit stations of Odisha at a total estimated cost of Rs.240.82 Crores. The 6 stations of Odisha to be redeveloped under the Amrit Station Scheme are, Bimlagarh, Jaroli, Rairangpur, Panposh, Baleshwar and Betnoti. Moreover, the total estimated cost for 23 Road Overbridges/Underpasses in Odisha is Rs.192.41 Crores.

Master Plans are being prepared for development of these stations as ‘City Centres’, with proper integration of both sides of the city. This integrated approach is driven by the holistic vision of the overall urban development of the city, centered around the railway station. The redevelopment will provide modern passenger amenities along with ensuring well-designed traffic circulation, inter-modal integration and signage for the guidance of passengers. The design of the station buildings will be inspired by local culture, heritage and architecture. ‘One Station One Product’ scheme will help the artisans and will help in the branding of local products.

The facilities planned at the stations are:

  1.  New station building in place of old building with all facilities (i.e. waiting room, booking office, façade, executive lounge, cafeteria, toilets etc.)
  2.  Improvement in surface of platforms and platform shelters
  3. Smooth Access with Wide Roads
  4. Standard illumination Levels
  5. Improved circulating area with efficient and durable material used for foot-paths within the premises
  6. Aesthetic, wide and well-lit entrance porches
  7. Provision of new platform shelter on all platforms

Enhancing Passenger Experience and Safety

  1. Providing a transitional entrance porch
  2. Reorganizing  and Optimising the vehicular parking
  3. Signages & Navigation enhancing the passenger experience via easy navigation through signages.
  4. Smooth movement
  5. Experiencing local art and culture Integrated art into the station and the open spaces within the premises
  6. CCTV Cameras to ensure surveillance throughout the station
  7. Public Address System Enhancing the reach of PA system to address passengers throughout the station premises about important information.

The station buildings to be designed with adequate daylight, reduced heat gain, improving energy efficiency, incorporating solar panels, low-energy LED Illumination, Water Recycling and Rainwater harvesting, Low water consumption fixtures, Bio-Toilet, planting of native species in the landscape to promote local biodiversity and incorporating green patches within the premises.

 Divyangjan Accessibility Measures

  1. Providing Information System Accessibility by Signages, announcement system, website and mobile app.
  2. Providing Station Accessibility by Entrance ramp, reserved parking, low-height counters, disabled-friendly washrooms and help booths near exits.
  3. Providing Platform Accessibility by Guiding tactile path, accessible washrooms, water booth with low height, FOB ramps
  4. Provision of Signage in Braille Script for the visually impaired

 

The modernization of stations will create a new atmosphere for development as they will give a good first impression among the visitors. Upgraded stations will not only increase tourism but will also give a boost to economic activities and financial growth in the nearby areas. These Amrit Railway stations will be a symbol of taking pride in one’s heritage and instill pride in every citizen.

 

AROUND 16,000 STUDENTS ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED

IN VARIOUS COMPETITIONS ORGANISED BY SER

ON THE TOPIC 2047 KE VIKSIT BHARAT KA VIKSIT RAIL

 

Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister will inaugurate/lay foundation stone for redevelopment of 554 stations and more than 1500 Road Over bridge/Underpasses on 26th February, 2024 through Video Conferencing. This includes Foundation Stone Laying of 46 Stations of South Eastern Railway under Amrit Station Scheme.

In connection with the above programme, competitions were organised by all four Divisions of SER among the students of different schools. Around 16,000 students took part in essay & poem writing, drawing and elocution competitions on the topic “2047 ke Viksit Bharat ka Viksit Rail”.

In Adra Division 2826 school students took part in the Competitions at 28 locations. There were 144 winners of the competitions. In Ranchi Division 6800 school students took part in the competitions at 30 locations. There were 250 winners of the competitions. In Chakradharpur Division 3282 school students took part in the competitions at 41 locations. There were 39 winners of the competitions. In Kharagpur Division 2795 school students from took part in the competitions at 30 locations. There were 234 winners of the competitions.

More than 1,000 winners will be awarded by the dignitaries at different locations on 26th February, 2024.

DIVERSION OF TRAINS DUE TO DEVELOPMENTAL WORKS

IN MADURAI DIVISION OF SOUTHERN RAILWAY

 

 

In view of developmental works in Madurai division of Southern Railway, 12665 Howrah-Kannyakumari Express journey commencing on 26.02.2024 will run on diverted route via Tiruchchirappalli-Karur-Erode-Podanur-Palakkad-Thiruvananthapuram Central.
