SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY CELEBRATES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY

 

South Eastern Railway celebrated World Environment Day at its Headquarters, Garden Reach on 05.06.2024. The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “Land Restoration, Desertification and Drought Resilience”.

Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway planted saplings as a part of observance of World Environment Day at SER Headquarters, Garden Reach. The General Manager has also inaugurated a park “Amrit Udhyan” at the Headquarters premises in presence of Smt. Preeti Mishra, President, SERWWO (South Eastern Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation). Shri A. K. Dubey, Additional General Manager, Shri Sitaram Sinku, Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer, other Principal Officers, Senior Officers, staff & members of SERWWO were also present and took part in the Tree Plantation programme. Later, at BNR Officers’ Club, General Manager, Shri A.K.Mishra administered the Mission Life Pledge and also released a Booklet o­n Eco friendly initiatives taken by South Eastern Railway. While addressing the gathering, Shri Mishra emphasized on reducing carbon footprint, using renewable energy, conserving water, planting trees and supporting environmental education and awareness. As a citizen of India, all of us have the responsibility to protect the environment, he added. A Nukkad Natak w as staged by members of S E Railway Bharat Scouts & Guides to create awareness on tree plantation, avoid use of plastic and protection of environment.

In its endeavour to reduce pollution and preserve natural resources, South Eastern Railway has taken various initiatives viz. 100% Electrification of railway line, continuous afforestation, development of eco-smart stations, installation of solar panels at the ro of top of station buildings and administrative offices, installation of bio-toilets in train coaches, Plastic Bottle Crushing Machines at stations, provision of rain water harvesting plants in the Divisions etc. As a step towards water and solid waste management, Automatic Coach Washing Plants, Effluent Treatment-cum-Water Recycling Plants and Solid Waste Management Plants have been installed at different locations over SER jurisdiction.

World Environment Day was also observed at all four Divisions viz. Kharagpur, Adra, Chakradharpur and Ranchi by organizing tree plantation, Nukkad Nataks, Prabhat Pheri, Seminars etc.

Kharagpur Division celebrates World Environment Day under the logo of Mission LiFE on June 5, 2024. Special activities were organized to create awareness about the environment, with an emphasis on the current year’s theme, “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.”.
The special event was organized at SERSA Stadium from 7.30 a.m. onwards. Shri K.R. Chaudhary, DRM Kharagpur, administered the pledge to all the officers for the protection of the environment. A Nukkad Natak was staged by the members of the DCA on the theme of environmental conservation.
DRM Kharagpur, along with all the branch officers, took part in a mass plantation drive at the SERSA stadium, Graveyard Maidan, Environmental Park, Cricket Ground, District Scout Den, etc. to attain the “Net zero carbon emissions target by 2030.” An Awareness Prabhat Feri was also organized on the current year theme of World Environment Day with the help of Scouts & Guides, Civil Defense, and other social groups.
Shri K.R. Chaudhary addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of cleanliness at work places, stations, and colonies. He also shed light on ways to be more Eco friendly by adopting more environmental friendly and sustainable life habits.

 

खड़गपुर मंडल, 5 जून, 2024 को मिशन लाइफ के लोगो के तहत विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस मना रहा है। वर्तमान वर्ष की थीम, “भूमि बहाली, मरुस्थलीकरण, और सूखा लचीलापन” पर जोर देने के साथ, पर्यावरण के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करने के लिए विशेष गतिविधियाँ आयोजित की गईं।
विशेष कार्यक्रम का आयोजन सेरसा स्टेडियम में सुबह 7.30 बजे से किया गया. श्री के.आर. चौधरी, मंडल रेल प्रबंधक खड़गपुर ने सभी अधिकारियों को पर्यावरण संरक्षण की शपथ दिलाई। डीसीए के सदस्यों द्वारा पर्यावरण संरक्षण विषय पर नुक्कड़ नाटक का मंचन किया गया।
डीआरएम खड़गपुर ने सभी शाखा अधिकारियों के साथ “2030 तक शुद्ध शून्य कार्बन उत्सर्जन लक्ष्य” प्राप्त करने के लिए सेरसा स्टेडियम, कब्रिस्तान मैदान, पर्यावरण पार्क, क्रिकेट ग्राउंड, जिला स्काउट डेन आदि में बड़े पैमाने पर वृक्षारोपण अभियान में भाग लिया। स्काउट्स एंड गाइड्स, सिविल डिफेंस और अन्य सामाजिक समूहों की मदद से वर्तमान वर्ष के विश्व पर्यावरण दिवस की थीम पर एक जागरूकता प्रभात फेरी का भी आयोजन किया गया।
श्री के.आर. चौधरी ने सभा को संबोधित किया और कार्यस्थलों, स्टेशनों और कॉलोनियों में स्वच्छता के महत्व पर जोर दिया। उन्होंने अधिक पर्यावरण अनुकूल और टिकाऊ जीवन आदतों को अपनाकर अधिक पर्यावरण अनुकूल बनने के तरीकों पर भी प्रकाश डाला।

इंदौती रोड में अवस्थित बाबा होंडा की ओर से बीते दिनों  ग्राहकों को पौधा वितरित किया गया. कंपनी अधिकारियों का मानना है कि हमें बेहतर भविष्य के लिए पर्यावरण कोबचाए रखना जरूरी है.
