Surprise Drive against Sale of Unapproved Packaged Drinking Water at Kharagpur Division Stations.
In a proactive initiative to ensure passenger safety and maintain compliance with railway regulations, the Commercial Department of Kharagpur Division conducted a surprise inspection drive today at Ramrajatala and Santragachi stations.
During the inspections, authorities found and seized unapproved packaged drinking water (PDW) being sold at both stations. The seized items included local and unverified brands not authorized for sale on railway premises. Following the seizure, penalties were imposed on the vendors as per the existing rules and guidelines.
The drive was aimed at:
Preventing the sale of unapproved and potentially unsafe PDW on railway premises.
Ensuring compliance with Indian Railways’ regulations for licensed commercial activities.
Creating awareness among vendors about the importance of selling only approved and verified products.
This initiative reflects the Kharagpur Division’s commitment to passenger safety, hygiene, and regulatory compliance, and serves as a reminder that Indian Railways maintains continuous monitoring of commercial activities to safeguard the interests of Rail users.

यात्री सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने और रेलवे नियमों का पालन कराने के लिए, खड़गपुर डिवीजन के वाणिज्यिक विभाग ने आज रामराजतला और संतरागाछी स्टेशनों पर अचानक निरीक्षण अभियान चलाया ।
निरीक्षण के दौरान, अधिकारियों ने दोनों स्टेशनों पर अनाधिकृत पैकेज्ड पेयजल (PDW) की बिक्री पाई और उसे जब्त कर लिया। जब्त की गई सामग्री में स्थानीय और अप्रूव्ड नहीं किए गए ब्रांड शामिल थे, जिन्हें रेलवे परिसरों में बेचने की अनुमति नहीं थी। जब्ती के बाद विक्रेताओं पर नियमानुसार जुर्माना लगाया गया।
इस अभियान का उद्देश्य था:
रेलवे परिसरों में अनाधिकृत और संभावित असुरक्षित PDW की बिक्री को रोकना।
लाइसेंस प्राप्त वाणिज्यिक गतिविधियों में भारतीय रेलवे के नियमों का पालन सुनिश्चित करना।
