सेरसा में कराटे प्रतियोगिता आयोजित

Kharagpur, Paschim Medinipore:
A press meet was organised by the Paschim Medinipore Karate Association at Sersa Stadium, Kharagpur.

The press meet was led by renowned karateka Hanshi Premjit Sen, President, Karate Do Association of Bengal, and Referee & Judge, World Karate Federation (WKF).

Addressing the media, Hanshi Premjit Sen emphasized that every guardian must verify whether a karate institution is affiliated with the Karate India Organisation (KIO) and the Karate Do Association of Bengal (KAB) before admitting their wards. He stated that training in non-affiliated organisations deprives students of opportunities to participate in official district, state, national, and international championships, which can adversely affect their sporting future.
He further advised guardians to carefully examine the credentials of coaches, including the number of KAB State Champions and KIO National Champions they have produced, before enrolling their children.
Hanshi Sen also expressed serious concern over unethical practices in karate, stating that some individuals are indulging in unfair politics by promoting junior belts directly to black belt ranks. Such practices, he warned, not only undermine the discipline and values of karate but also cause long-term damage to the careers and lives of young practitioners.
Members present on behalf of the Paschim Medinipore Karate Association included:
• Shihan Rashbehari Paul, Secretary, Paschim Medinipur District Sports Karate Do Association
• Sensei Nagarjun Mahato, Coach
• Sensei S. R. Mallick, Coach
• Sensei Arup Kr Barman, Coach
• Sensei Brijesh Prajapati, Coach
• Sensei Dhoniman Sonar, Coach
• Shihan Abhijit Paul, Coach
• Sensei Prodyut Mondal, Coach
The press meet concluded with an appeal to guardians, athletes, and karate institutions to uphold transparency, authenticity, and discipline for the healthy growth of karate in the region.
