Joint Eviction Drive Successfully Conducted at Railway Land near Bhanjpur Station
Baleswar, 11 January 2025:
A joint eviction drive was successfully conducted on 10.01.2025 at railway land near the Railway Colony, Bhanjpur Station, to remove unauthorized encroachments and safeguard valuable railway property.
The eviction drive was carried out by the engineering department in coordination with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and concerned railway staff. During the operation, one hard encroachment and one soft encroachment were removed, covering an area of approximately 15 meters × 19 meters (about 285 square meters) of railway land.
The total assessed value of the reclaimed railway land is approximately Rs. 26,41,180/- (Rupees Twenty-Six Lakh Forty-One Thousand One Hundred Eighty only).
The eviction was completed smoothly without any law-and-order issues. The local civil administration was present during the drive to ensure peaceful execution and to provide necessary assistance.
The Railways reiterate their commitment to protecting railway land and infrastructure and will continue to conduct such coordinated eviction drives to prevent unauthorized occupation of railway property.
RPF Rescues Two Runaway Minors at Kharagpur and Shalimar Railway Stations
Kharagpur, 10 January 2026:
In separate incidents on 10.01.2026, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) rescued two runaway minor children during routine round and checking at Kharagpur and Shalimar Railway Stations and ensured their safe handover to Childline authorities for further care and rehabilitation.
Rescue at Kharagpur Railway Station:
On 10.01.2026 at about 17:10 hrs, during routine round and checking of the platform area of Kharagpur Railway Station, RPF personnel noticed a minor girl roaming aimlessly on Platform No. 02. On interaction, the minor disclosed her identity and stated that she had run away from her home with a friend.
The minor girl was immediately brought to the RPF post, where she was provided with necessary food and water. Information was promptly communicated to Childline, Kharagpur. The Childline team attended the post and, after completion of all legal formalities, the minor girl was handed over to the Railway Child Care Worker for safe custody and further rehabilitation.
Rescue at Shalimar Railway Station:
On the same day, i.e. 10.01.2026, at about 09:30 hrs, during routine round and checking at Shalimar Railway Station, RPF personnel noticed a suspected minor boy moving from the parking area towards Platform No. 01. On interaction, the boy disclosed that he had fled from his home without the knowledge or consent of his parents and had come to Shalimar Railway Station with the intention of travelling to Hyderabad in search of work, without possessing any ticket or valid authority.
Considering the circumstances and in the interest of the child’s safety, the minor boy was rescued. Subsequently, the rescued minor boy along with his personal belongings was handed over to Childline, Howrah for further necessary action.
The RPF reiterates its commitment to the safety, protection, and welfare of children at railway premises and continues to work in close coordination with Childline and other stakeholders to prevent child trafficking and ensure timely care and rehabilitation of vulnerable children.
