kharagpur, SERMU open line pay homage to the martyrs of historic Strike on saturday evening near BSNL office at KGP Bogda. strike was called on 19th Sept. 1968 for demanding min wages and Dearness allowance etc. Biswajit Laha Sermu Divn Coordinator said One day token strike had called by joint action council commence from 6 am on 19 th sept. 1968. AIRF, AIDEF and confederation was the major organization in JAC (joint action committee). Demanding need based min wages , full neutralization of cost of living (DA),merger of DA with basic pay etc.

On the day of strike Govt. was issued ESMO and imposed suspension, dismissal, termination, break of service . Arrest of leader was started 18th sept. All over India about 12000 central govt employee and leaders arrested and jailed. 9 Rly. employees were Shot dead by police at Pathankot, punjab. So like every year this yr also SERMU pay homage to the martyrs of Historic Strike 1968.
