खड़गपुर, QS वर्ल्ड रैंकिंग यूनिवर्सिटी 2023 में आईआईटी खड़गपुर को  270 वां स्थान मिला है. आईआईटी खड़गपुर ने बीते रैंकिंग के मुकाबले 10 स्थान की छलांग लगाई है। आईआईटी खड़गपुर के निदेशक प्रोफेसर वी.के तिवारी ने कहा कि हालांकि ताजा रैंकिंग से वे संतुष्ट नहीं है लेकिन आईआईटी ने दुनिया के 10 विश्वविद्यालयों में शामिल होने का जो लक्ष्य रखा है उसके लिए वे लोग कृतसंकल्प है।

June 10, 2022, West Bengal, India Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT KGP) leaped up 10 places to secure 270th rank in the latest QS World University Ranking 2023. Overall, the institute improved its 2022 performance by 10 places and seen significant rise in academic and employer reputation. The Citations per Faculty has also seen a variable rise being the strongest indicator for the institute and fared among the top 19% in the QS World University Rankings. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur moved up to 44 places among its global peers.

Speaking on the QS World University Rankings 2023, Prof. V K Tewari, Director, IIT Kharagpur remarked, “Though I am not very happy with the present ranking of our institute, but we are determined to achieve our vision to be among the top 10 universities in the world. We intend to implement a diverse academic structure following the mandate of multi-modal curriculum as envisaged in NEP 2020. The institute will continue to facilitate multifaceted transitions in academy-industry-policy acknowledging social responsibility and ensure greater synergy between technology and cultural inheritance of the country.

A total of 41 universities from India have made it to the QS World Rankings 2023. IISC Bangalore has secured the first position among the Indian institutions with an overall score of 49.5 India has also come out strongly on the research front, with IISc emerging number one globally in the ‘citations per faculty’ (CpF) indicator.

QS World University Rankings survey 2023, the universities and institutions were judged on six metrics: Academic Reputation, Citations Per Faculty, Employer Reputation, Faculty Student Ratio, International Faculty Ratio and International Students Ratio. This year, two new unweighted parameters were introduced – International Research Network and Employment Outcomes.
