April 12, 2023, India: Under the aegis of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Oil India Limited on research collaboration in the broader areas of Earth Sciences and Hydrocarbon Exploration. The event was graced by Dr. Ranjith Rath, Chairman & Managing Director, Oil India Limited, senior officials of OIL, Prof. Virendra Kumar Tewari, Director, IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Amit Patra, Deputy Director, IIT Kharagpur and other senior professors of IIT Kharagpur.
The collaborative Research & Development (R&D) between both the organizations will invigorate industrial and inter-disciplinary research and training undertaken at Deysarkar Centre of Excellence in Petroleum Engineering at IIT Kharagpur in Upstream, Midstream and Downstream segments of the Oil and Natural Gas value chain entailing hydrocarbon exploration, development, production, reservoir management including IOR & EOR, pipeline transportation, sedimentary basin analysis, refining & process technology etc. Further, Prof. V K Tewari accompanied by a team of professors will visit different exploration sites of Oil India to augment areas of research collaboration and project implementation.
Dr. Ranjit Rath, CMD, Oil India Limited remarked, “As a step towards its commitment of ensuring India’s energy security and making India less import dependent, OIL has adopted a 3-pronged strategy of enhanced exploration activities with leap of faith exploration acreage of 50,000 plus sqkm pan India; Mission 4+ to expedite & augment domestic production of crude oil & natural gas; and expand its alternate energy portfolio aimed at achieving Net Zero by 2040”. Dr. Rath further added, “The MoU is a step towards Industry-Academia collaboration in advanced technologies in earth sciences and hydrocarbon exploration to cater to the growing demands of hydrocarbon exploration and extraction. Through this MoU, both OIL and IITKP will engage themselves in various joint research initiatives and advanced technology solutions in energy sector and other areas of mutual interest.”
Prof. Virendra Kumar Tewari, Director, IIT Kharagpur remarked, “To support innovation and start-up ecosystem for a sustainable future, we need to indigenize, modernize, and renovate the oil refining industry. The focus should be on domestic exploration of petrochemical production capacity. Application of Geoscience, Engineering & Design, Chemical & Process Technologies, and R&D initiatives along with application of GIS and Remote sensing studies in Oil and Natural gas industry will create investment opportunities through Atmanirbhar Bharat. India contributes 5% share in the global oil demand and has the fourth-largest crude refining capacity in the world. 10% Ethanol-blended petrol which has already been achieved in our country will maximize the dependence on alternative energy.”
IIT खड़गपुर ने ऑयल इंडिया लिमिटेड के साथ किया समझौता
12 अप्रैल, 2023, भारत: आत्मनिर्भर भारत के तत्वावधान में, भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान खड़गपुर ने ऑयल इंडिया लिमिटेड के साथ पृथ्वी विज्ञान और हाइड्रोकार्बन अन्वेषण के व्यापक क्षेत्रों में अनुसंधान सहयोग पर एक समझौता पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इस कार्यक्रम में ऑयल इंडिया लिमिटेड के अध्यक्ष और प्रबंध निदेशक डॉ. रंजीत रथ, ओआईएल के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी, आईआईटी खड़गपुर के निदेशक प्रोफेसर वीरेंद्र कुमार तिवारी, आईआईटी खड़गपुर के उप निदेशक प्रोफेसर अमित पात्रा और अन्य वरिष्ठ प्रोफेसर उपस्थित थे.
दोनों संगठनों के बीच सहयोगी अनुसंधान एवं विकास (आरएंडडी) तेल और प्राकृतिक गैस मूल्य श्रृंखला के अपस्ट्रीम, मिडस्ट्रीम और डाउनस्ट्रीम सेगमेंट में आईआईटी खड़गपुर में पेट्रोलियम इंजीनियरिंग में उत्कृष्टता के देसरकार केंद्र में किए गए औद्योगिक और अंतर-अनुशासनात्मक अनुसंधान और प्रशिक्षण को मज़बूत करेगा। हाइड्रोकार्बन अन्वेषण, विकास, उत्पादन, आईओआर और ईओआर सहित जलाशय प्रबंधन, पाइपलाइन परिवहन, तलछटी बेसिन विश्लेषण, शोधन और प्रक्रिया प्रौद्योगिकी आदि। इसके अलावा, प्रो. वी के तिवारी प्रोफेसरों की एक टीम के साथ ऑयल इंडिया के विभिन्न अन्वेषण स्थलों का दौरा करेंगे ताकि अनुसंधान सहयोग और परियोजना कार्यान्वयन को बढ़ाया जा सके।
ऑयल इंडिया लिमिटेड के सीएमडी डॉ. रंजीत रथ ने कहा, ”भारत की ऊर्जा सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने और भारत को कम आयात पर निर्भर बनाने की अपनी प्रतिबद्धता की दिशा में एक कदम के रूप में, ओआईएल ने विश्वास की छलांग के साथ बढ़ी हुई अन्वेषण गतिविधियों की 3-आयामी रणनीति अपनाई है। पूरे भारत में 50,000 से अधिक वर्ग किमी; कच्चे तेल और प्राकृतिक गैस के घरेलू उत्पादन में तेजी लाने और बढ़ाने के लिए मिशन 4+; और 2040 तक नेट जीरो हासिल करने के उद्देश्य से अपने वैकल्पिक ऊर्जा पोर्टफोलियो का विस्तार करें। डॉ. रथ ने आगे कहा, “एमओयू हाइड्रोकार्बन अन्वेषण और निष्कर्षण की बढ़ती मांगों को पूरा करने के लिए पृथ्वी विज्ञान और हाइड्रोकार्बन अन्वेषण में उन्नत प्रौद्योगिकियों में उद्योग-अकादमिक सहयोग की दिशा में एक कदम है। इस एमओयू के माध्यम से, ओआईएल और आईआईटी केजीपी दोनों स्वयं को विभिन्न संयुक्त अनुसंधान पहलों और ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में उन्नत प्रौद्योगिकी समाधानों और पारस्परिक हित के अन्य क्षेत्रों में संलग्न करेंगे।
प्रो. वीरेंद्र कुमार तिवारी, निदेशक, आईआईटी खड़गपुर ने कहा, “स्थायी भविष्य के लिए नवाचार और स्टार्ट-अप पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र का समर्थन करने के लिए, हमें तेल शोधन उद्योग का स्वदेशीकरण, आधुनिकीकरण और नवीनीकरण करने की आवश्यकता है। पेट्रोकेमिकल उत्पादन क्षमता के घरेलू अन्वेषण पर ध्यान देना चाहिए। तेल और प्राकृतिक गैस उद्योग में जीआईएस और रिमोट सेंसिंग अध्ययन के आवेदन के साथ-साथ जियोसाइंस, इंजीनियरिंग और डिजाइन, केमिकल और प्रोसेस टेक्नोलॉजीज और आरएंडडी पहलों का अनुप्रयोग, आत्म निर्भर भारत के माध्यम से निवेश के अवसर पैदा करेगा। भारत वैश्विक तेल मांग में 5% का योगदान देता है और दुनिया में चौथी सबसे बड़ी कच्चे तेल की शोधन क्षमता रखता है। 10% इथेनॉल-मिश्रित पेट्रोल जो हमारे देश में पहले ही हासिल कर लिया गया है, वैकल्पिक ऊर्जा पर निर्भरता को अधिकतम करेगा।
