EXTENSION OF PURULIA-VILLUPURAM EXPRESS UPTO TIRUNELVELI

 

Kolkata, 9th January, 2024:

 

It has been decided that 22605 Purulia- Villupuram Express journey commencing w.e.f 12.04.2024 will run upto Tirunelveli. 22606 Villupuram – Purulia Express journey commencing w.e.f 17.04.2024 will originate from Tirunelveli as per the following schedule:

 

 

22605 Purulia- Tirunelveli Express will leave Purulia at 10.00 hrs every Monday & Friday and will reach Tirunelveli at 4.10 hrs. every Wednesday and Sunday. In the return direction, 22606 Tirunelveli – Purulia Express will leave Tirunelveli at 03.00 hrs every Wednesday & Saturday and will reach Purulia at 22.45 hrs. every Thursday and Sunday.

 

In addition to the previous stoppages, the train will also stop at Vridhachalam, Tiruchchirappalli, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudunagar and Kovilpatti between Villupuram and Tirunelveli.

RUNNING OF VANDE BHARAT WEEKLY SPECIAL TRAIN

BETWEEN HOWRAH AND PURI

 

Kolkata, 9th January, 2024:

 

It has been decided to run 02311/02312 Howrah-Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Weekly special train between Howrah and Puri on every Thursday till the end of January-2024 as per the following schedule:

 

 

02311 Howrah-Puri Vande Bharat Special will leave Howrah at 06.10 hrs on 11.01.2024, 18.01.2024 & 25.01.2024 and will reach Puri at 12.35 hrs. the same day. In the return direction, 02312 Puri-Howrah Vande Bharat Special will leave Puri at 13.50 hrs on 11.01.2024, 18.01.2024 & 25.01.2024 and will arrive Howrah at 20.30 hrs. the same day

The special train will stop at Kharagpur, Balasore, Bhadrakh, Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Khurda Road between Howrah and Puri

CONSISTENT GROWTH IN SER’s

FREIGHT LOADING AND EARNINGS PERFORMANCE

 

Kolkata, 5th January, 2024:

 

South Eastern Railway has loaded total 154.37 Million Tonnes of originating freight in the first nine months (April-December) of the current financial year (2023-24) registering a growth of 3.46% in comparison to the corresponding period of previous financial year. During this period, the revenue generation from originating freight loading has also increased to Rs 13919.84 crore as against Rs. 13314.64 crore in same period of the previous year. Therefore, the earnings from freight loading has enhanced by 4.55% for SER.

 

SER has also registered growth in earnings from loading of Coal, Iron ore and Fertilizer in the first nine months i.e. April to December of the current financial year (2023-24). During this period, SER has earned Rs 4256.33 crores from Coal loading, which is 6.14% more than the corresponding period of previous fiscal.

 

The main commodities of Freight loading during this period were Iron Ore, Coal, Pig Iron & Finished Steel, Cement, Fertilizers, Petroleum Products etc.

 

SMT. DARSHANA JARDOSH, HON’BLE MINISTER OF STATE FOR RAILWAYS HOLDS REVIEW MEETING WITH SOUTH EASTERN RAILWAY

AND EASTERN RAILWAY AT KOLKATA

 

Kolkata, 6th January, 2024:

 

Smt. Darshana Jardosh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways and Textiles, Govt. of India held a high level meeting to review the performance of South Eastern Railway and Eastern Railway at Fairlie Place, Kolkata on 06.01.2024. Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway, Shri Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway and other Principal officers of South Eastern and Eastern Railway were present at the review meeting.

 

Smt. Jardosh, during the meeting, held detailed discussion on different ongoing projects and laid emphasis on timely completion of projects like new line, doubling, third line, road over bridge, passenger amenity works etc. Discussions were also held to enhance passenger safety and security.  Smt. Jardosh, reviewed the progress of work under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in South Eastern and Eastern Railway.

 

Shri Anil Kumar Mishra, General Manager, South Eastern Railway informed the Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways about the various developmental initiatives taken by South Eastern Railway viz. progress of ongoing projects, growth in freight loading, redevelopment of stations, introduction of new trains, security arrangements for passengers and environment friendly measures. He also apprised the progress of safety works initiated by South Eastern Railway and additional passenger amenity works at different stations. He added that SER is presently running four Vande Bharat Express trains for convenience of passengers and tourists.

 

In the meeting, Shri Sumit Sarkar, Additional General Manager, Eastern Railway appraised Hon’ble Minister regarding various key statistics on performance, safety initiatives, traffic pattern, loading, originating revenue, environment conservation initiatives, passenger amenities etc.

 

Smt. Darshana Jardosh suggested some improvement measures during the meeting and appreciated the overall performance of South Eastern Railway and Eastern Railway.
